Whether you’ve never touched a tile or you’re looking for a structured introduction, this two-part beginner series will take you from complete beginner to confident player. Over two classes, you’ll build your skills step by step so you leave feeling comfortable joining open play, leagues, and future Mahj & Bougie events. Week 1: Mahjong 101 • Tile identification and terminology • Game setup and the Charleston • Basic rules and game flow • Beginner strategy • Play your first guided hands Week 2: Mahjong 102 • Read and navigate the current NMJL card • Learn how to choose a hand • Basic offensive and defensive strategy • Gameplay etiquette • Guided play with instructor coaching Your Registration Includes ✔ Mahjong 101 ✔ Mahjong 102 ✔ All equipment provided ✔ Small class size with personalized instruction ✔ Take-home resources ✔ Receive your Mahj & Bougie Loyalty Card and earn your first punch upon completing the series. Sunday League Dates: September 13 & 20 October 4 & 25 November 1, 15 & 29 December 13 Time: 1:00 to 3:00 PM Location: Maxwell’s on the Lake Players should already know the basics of American Mahjong and be comfortable playing independently. Mahj After Dark is Mahj & Bougie’s Monday night competitive American Mahjong league. This multi-week series combines structured league play, rotating tables, individual and team standings, prizes, and plenty of Mahj magic. 🀄️ Come with your Mahj besties or register solo and we’ll help match you with a team. Each league night, players compete at assigned tables to earn points toward both individual and team standings. Best for players who already know the basics of American Mahjong and are ready to sharpen their strategy, meet more players, and enjoy some friendly competition. Sip, laugh, play, compete. Your seat’s waiting. 💋 Please note: League registration is non-refundable due to advance planning, reserved seating, team placement, prizes, and league materials.
